As a family, we read the scriptures - well try to every night, but if we're lucky we read them 4 of the 7 nights. Anyway, we met with our Bishop (clergy presiding over our congregation) in December, a year-end "how are you doing" meeting, and he challenged us to read the Sunday School lesson as a family. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we go to church 3 hours every Sunday. Those 3 hours are split into the following: Sacrament, where we renew our promises with Heavenly Father by partaking of the bread and water (1 hour and 10 minutes); Sunday School, where we study the scriptures (50 minutes); Relief Society/Priesthood/Young Men/Young Women - each group separates and learns a lesson pertinent to their group (50 minutes). Last year in Sunday School we studied The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. This year we are studying The Doctrine and Covenants. The Doctrine and Covenants compilation of revelations given to the Prophet Joseph Smith and other prophets in answer to prayer. These books are true. Anyway, as a family we were reading the introduction to The Doctrine and Covenants and we read the phrase "in fulfillment of" and my 4-year old pipes up, "What does fulfillment of mean"? "What?!!" - is what I'm thinking. "How does he pick out this phrase?" Needless to say, I was glad Elliot was there, because at that moment in time, I could not think. I was stunned. I looked over at Elliot and he looked at me and then he explained what fulfillment of meant. I don't recall the words he used to describe it, but Brock understood. Brock, my 4-year old, a child of God, recognized something he'd been taught before in the premortal life. I am so blessed! Blessed to have this not-so-little, energetic, ball of fire in my home. The Lord has entrusted me with one of His sons and I'm honored.

Awesome responsibility isn't it. Blew me away when I realized who I had the priviledge of raising.
